Hibiscus tea is a mild refreshing (inexpensive) and healthful beverage. It actually contains vitamins, amino acids & bioflavonoids and is so simple to make.
Simply pour boiling water over the flowers (wrapped in cheesecloth, a large tea ball, or simply toss them into the tea pitcher and spoon them out after steeping. Let the tea steep for 3 minutes, taste, then let steep a few more minutes if you desire a stronger taste. Add lemon and/or coconut sugar if using. Drink hot or on the rocks, I like it both ways.
NOTE: if you are not familiar with hibiscus flowers, they can usually be found in whole food stores or the Mexican Foods section of many larger grocery stores, Be sure to check to see that they are organic and have not been sprayed with pesticides as some growers spray right on the blooms.
