I used to commute nearly an hour every day when I was going to college, which left very little time for breakfast. McDonald's was on the way, and I stopped 2-3 times a week to grab a Sausage and Egg McGriddle. At the time, I thought it was heaven, but these days I know better. I discovered this combination completely by accident, but wanted to share it with those of you who love a good breakfast sandwich!

Ingredients

  • 1 sprouted whole grain cinnamon bread, from organic grains
  • 1 tsp. butter, unsalted, organic, raw or unpasteurized, grass-fed/pastured
  • 1 egg, omega-3, cage-free, organic
  • 1 sausage, ground, nitrate-free, organic
  • 1 coconut oil, raw, extra-virgin, organic

Directions

  1. Prepare your egg, either scrambling it and cooking it mini-omelet style, or frying it until the yolk is hard. (I use nonstick pans, but if you don't have them, add 1 tsp coconut oil to the pan to keep your egg from sticking.)
  2. Cook sausage patty until the center is no longer pink.
  3. Toast your raisin bread.
  4. Butter your raisin toast and cut it in half.
  5. Layer cooked egg and sausage patty between your raisin toast halves and enjoy!

This is the perfect combination of sweet and salty, and the best part is, you can use any type of sausage, as long as it's all natural and organic, and you get the same delicious taste.
