Turkey burgers topped with flavorful sauteed onions.
1 tbsp. butter
1 lrg. onion
sea salt & black pepper to taste
1/4 c. chicken broth
1 tbsp. maple syrup
1/4 c. dijon mustard
1 lbs. ground turkey
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
6 fresh sage
1 dsh. worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. coconut oil
2 oz. cheese, any type
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add thinly sliced onions, and season with sea salt and pepper. Cook until onions are soft and light caramel in color (about 20 minutes). Add chicken broth, maple syrup, and Dijon mustard; simmer another 15 minutes.
While the onions are simmering, make the burgers. Combine ground turkey, sea salt, pepper, thinly sliced sage leaves, and Worcestershire sauce. Use hands to mix well and form into 4 patties. Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties to the skillet; cook for 12- 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Top with sliced cheese at the end to melt it.
To serve: plate burgers and top with sautéed onions.
