This recipe is a favorite in my home. It is easy and quick to prepare but it does take a while to cook. You can use ingredients other than cheese and spinach if you like so long as the ingredients equal two cups of filling. My children love this recipe and will request that I make it for them. The quiche may be frozen in storage containers after cooking for future use.
6 whole egg
1 c. milk, raw or organic
1 c. shredded cheese
1 pkg. frozen spinach
sea salt to taste
black pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste
onion to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees while preparing mixture.
Remove frozen spinach from package and thaw in microwave safe container for approximately 5 minutes on high or until completely thawed. Set container with thawed spinach aside to cool. Crack eggs into a large mixing bowl; beat well. Add milk to eggs and beat again. Add cheese and spices to egg mixture; stir with a large spoon by hand until mixed well. Remove as much water as possible from spinach by pressing spinach against the side of the container with a large spoon or pour into a mesh strainer and use the spoon to press the water out. Important tip: if you do not remove the water, the spinach will not be evenly distributed throughout the finished product but will rather sit on the bottom of it. Add drained spinach to egg mixture; stir until mixed well. Pour into greased pie plate or tin. Place in pre-heated oven and bake for one hour. Quiche is done when knife inserted into the center comes out clean and is golden brown on top.
