Spicy Potatoes and Onions

A nice side dish for grilled meat.


  • 1 lbs. potatoes, Yukon Gold, organic
  • 1/2 lbs. sweet potato, fresh, organic
  • 2 tbs. coconut oil, raw, extra-virgin, organic
  • 1 onion, sweet, organic
  • sea salt, unrefined, & fresh ground pepper, organic to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin powder, organic
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes, crushed, organic
  • 1/4 bch. parsley, fresh, organic


Place a steamer basket in a pot with a couple inches of water. Add diced potatoes, cover, and steam until tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from basket and set on a plate.

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and season with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper. Cook, stirring gently, until lightly browned, about 15 minutes. Add cumin, red pepper flakes (if you want it spicier, feel free to add more red pepper flakes), and potatoes. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes.

Transfer to a serving platter and top with parsley sprigs.
