Since we are taking steps to improving our health by improving our diet - we might also want to improve other areas of our lives - here's a very simply and easy produce wash to help wash away the chemical residue left on commercial produce. (You can disregard the number of servings shown - I had to put a number in for the system to accept the recipe.)

Ingredients

    1 c. water

    1 c. white wine vinegar

    1 tbsp. baking soda

    25 grapefruit seed extract

Directions

In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients together (make sure the bowl has tall sides as it will foam up when the soda is added to the vinegar). Pour into a spray bottle and spray fresh fruits and vegetables (let sit on the produce for about 10 min. before rinsing off). If you aren't familiar with grapefruit seed extract, it can normally be purchased at a health food store. It's a bit pricey - I think I paid around $20 for mine, but it lasts a very, very long time.
