Sandra, a new member, asked an excellent question about our use of Flax Milk. Having never heard of it, I tried to make it, and it works!! We have a new milk that quenches thirst!! Good for drinking, coffee, and berry smoothies..
1 1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. flax seeds
1 tsp. coconut sugar
Put 1.5 C cold water and a little ice into a small, tall blender. Add 1 tsp coconut sugar and 1 Tbsp Organic Golden Flax Seeds and run it for 1 minute. The water in the blender will turn white, like milk. Pour the milk through a strainer into a cup or container. Scraping the strainer repeatedly with a spoon will make all the milk go through without the remnants of the flax seeds. The small cup in the picture contains the flax milk made this way. This milk is not thick/viscous, but delicate. Milk made this way is meant to be drunk right away. It quenches thirst wonderfully. The ground flax seeds taste great and do not stick to your teeth. 1 Tbsp = 1/2 FAT.
OMEGA-3. Flax seeds are a good source of Omega-3.
