In addition to your own laundry detergent, you can make your own fabric softener and save even more money for that organic food!
8 tsp. water
20 drp. essential oils
In a gallon container mix the following. Please note - the baking soda and vinegar will react with each other, so add vinegar slowly! Swish around in the jug after the bubbles die down. I used a clean milk jug and a funnel. After you have added all ingredients, let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then put the lid on the container, shake once, remove lid. Do this a couple of times to dissolve all the soda. Then leave the lid off another 30 minutes and that's it. No more reaction!
1 cup of baking soda 6 cups of WHITE distilled vinegar (do not use apple cider or your clothes will be dingy) 8 cups warm water 15-20 drops of any essential oil you like (for fragrance)
Use 1 cup in each rinse cycle.
I was afraid this might make my clothes smell like vinegar but it doesn't! And the clothes seem to be brighter and cleaner.
