A lighter burger recipe.
1 lbs. ground beef
15 oz. canned black beans
1 egg
2 oz. cheese, any type
sea salt & black pepper to taste
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. fresh basil
1/4 tsp. celery seed
1 spinach
1 med. onion
1 lrg. tomato
8 slc. sprouted whole grain bread
1 mustard
Drain the black beans and put them into a large mixing bowl. Lightly mash the beans, leaving some intact. Mix in the ground beef then the egg and cheese. Season to taste (the recommended seasonings were just some of the ones that I had on hand). Cook thoroughly in a frying pan over medium heat - flip only once or twice. I cooked two at a time and drained the pan after each batch to reduce the amount of fat. If you would like, serve over a salad, or put one on a SWG bun and top with tomato, onion, spinach, and mustard. Note: Don't skip the egg, as it will crumble.
Servings measured for just the patties; optional ingredients need to be counted separately. The cheese is not enough to make one full fat per serving.
If I don't get a chance to snap a picture next time before it's gone I will have to upload a picture of an empty plate!
