I drink this homemade beef bone broth to make sure I get enough iron in my diet.
3 1/2 lbs. bones, beef, grass-fed or pastured, organic
2 carrot
2 stlk. celery
1 med. onion
7 clove garlic
2 bay leaf
sea salt to taste
2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
2 c. water
Place chopped carrots, chopped celery, chopped onion, and smashed garlic in the bottom of a crockpot. Add beef bones. Tuck in the bay leaves. Sprinkle everything with a little sea salt, and drizzle apple cider vinegar over the bones. Cover everything with water (may take more than 2 cups – just make sure everything is covered). Cook on low for 8-10 hours. When it’s done cooking, pour the broth through a strainer and discard the solids.
Store in a glass container in the refrigerator. It will look like Jell-O. When you're ready to drink it, scoop a little out and heat it up in a saucepan on the stove (you may need to add a little water).
