I love fruit pies and crisps and this has become a remarkable replacement when I'm feeling deprived!
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. maple syrup
1 med. red apple
1 oz. almonds
2 tsp. coconut oil
1 tsp. cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350°F. Core the apple with a small knife, leaving a little core remaining at the bottom to hold the filling. Chop the nuts (use almonds or walnuts) into fairly small pieces. Mix the nuts, coconut oil, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweetener (use maple syrup, honey, or stevia). Stuff the apple and bake for 45 minutes.
