8 Delicious Guilt-Free Desserts

  • Cheat Day
  • Gluten Free

So many people think "eating healthy" means no dessert. That's just not true though! You absolutely can make a tasty dessert that's delicious and healthy at the same time. Today I want to share a few easy suggestions and ingredient substitutions that will make your dessert creations "Isabel Approved."

Swap coconut flour and almond flour for all-purpose flour.

I've successfully used coconut flour or almond flour instead of white flour or whole wheat flour in many cake, cookie, muffins, and bread recipes. Almond flour can typically be substituted 1:1 for white or whole wheat flour, but coconut flour cannot. When baking with coconut flour, I would recommend using established recipes rather than experimenting with measurements. I have found both of these flours at most supermarkets and have also ordered them online.

My sons are HUGE fans of the following recipes that are made with my favorite gluten-free flours. I'll make one of these at the beginning of each week and serve it with breakfast or as a snack the rest of the week.

Get creative with nuts.

Nuts are an easy, filling snack all by themselves, but they can also be used to make pie crusts or blended into nut butter to be used in dessert recipes. Here are two recipes that use different types of nuts to make delicious desserts.

Use non-dessert foods to make desserts.

Desserts don't always have to include what most people would consider "dessert ingredients" - sugar, flour, butter...you know, the usual. Here are 2 great recipes where avocados and zucchini are used to create delicious treats.

Raw honey can go a long way.

Raw honey has so so many health benefits (not to mention it's absolutely delicious) that it is a wonderful, healthy ingredient in desserts in place of processed white sugar. Here are two recipes (one for brownies, one for cookies) that use honey as the sweetener. I also love these recipes because they're super easy to make and oh-so-yummy!

Instead of using Almond flour , can I use GF flour along with GF Oats? I have 2 boys with nut allergies.

I love the oatmeal raisin cookies, do someone have a recipe to do it the healthy wsy. I buy some gluten free at the fresh market, but not too sure if they are safe to eat or not. My big problem is having a sweet tooth and so far I lost 20 lbs and drop 1 clothes size, super happy. I want to continue! Thank you!
