This ALWAYS sounds silly to me...
When I hear someone say, "I use [insert name of famous fad diet here] because it works every time!"
I can't help but think... "Why would you use a diet that you have to use more than one time, especially if it only gives you temporary results?
Quick-fix schemes don't fix anything. Changing your understanding of how nutrition works and your philosophy toward eating does.
Here are 4 ways to FIX your relationship with food to lose weight and keep it off!
- Wave off "white" food. If you want to lose fat fast and in a healthy, sustainable manner, the white bread, white flour and white sugar have to go. So do white potatoes, rice, crackers, cereal, pasta and pasteurized dairy products. All of these foods are processed to the point that their nutritional value is zeroed out. So zero them out of your diet.
- Ditch diet drinks. Soda, especially diet soda, is absolutely toxic for your body. It tricks your sweet tooth into thinking you're getting something for nothing, which actually leads to overeating. Worse yet, drinking soda is associated with obesity, diabetes, heart disease, liver damage, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, even some cancers. Water's the way to go.
- Walk away from wheat. Wheat - yes, even whole grain wheat - holds fat on the body. It can leave you bloated and heavier than you need to be. Find wheat-free alternatives to bread, crackers and cereals, such as quinoa, millet, and spelt. Break the bread habit and branch out into appetizing new adventures that are kinder to your waistline.
- Fuel up with fat burners. Some foods take more calories to burn and longer to digest, so consuming them helps you blast off the fat. Fire up your metabolism with fiber-full berries, beans, peppers, protein-packed nuts, organic eggs, olive oil and heart-happy saturated fats: coconut oil and grass fed butter. You'll feel fuller longer, and keep the pounds off, year after year.
When you know why you're eating what you're eating, you own the process. A weight loss program that's healthy will leave you feeling positive, in charge, and satisfied. To me, that's the best reason of all to adapt a "weigh of life" you can really live with.
