it may take some time to make, but your efforts will be well worth it! enjoy it hot or iced, add in a little honey for some sweetness too!
in a large pot, heat water over high heat. cut the lemongrass shoot in3-4 inch straws, and cover with plastic wrap on a cutting board. Using a hammer or mallet, smash the shoots. This is important because the smashing will bring out the natural lemon flavor in the root. Add the lemongrass to the water and simmer for 30 minutes. In the mean time, take your peeled ginger root and cut it into 2 or 3 1 inch cubes, After the lemongrass has boiled for 30 minutes, add the ginger to the pot and boil another 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes is up, remove from heat and add the green tea. let it sit 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you enjoy your tea. using a strainer and a cheesecloth, strain the tea into a 2 quart pitcher. You can enjoy this hot or put it into the refrigerator for a few hours to enjoy it hot. Adding 1/4 cup of honey makes this tea taste great too!
